Continental: Driving Leading Tires

Continental was founded in 1871 as a rubber manufacturer and has grown to the world’s fourth-largest tire manufacturer which is headquartered in Hanover, Germany. Continental AG’s tire division employs 57,000 employees in 24 countries.

It was the first company in the world to manufacture grooved vehicle tires in 1904.

Continental joined the tire market in North America with the acquisition of General Tire in 1987 and it purchased Hoosier Racing Tire in 2016. They have 3 large manufacturing plants in the US with their commercial truck & bus plant based in Clinton, MS. It also produces and distributes other brands such as AmeriSteel.

With over 1,000 engineers innovating with one simple goal in mind: making mobility safer. “More efficiency and increased safety on the roads are two of the main driving forces for innovation.”
