Bridgestone: Leaders in Performance

Bridgestone was founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in Japan. It became the first tire manufacturing company to offer tires nationwide in Japan in 1932. The company began expanding sales and manufacturing internationally in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Bridgestone (BSA) began selling tires in North America in 1967. Moreover, in 1983, BSA purchased a tire manufacturing plant in Tennessee from struggling Firestone Tire & Rubber. Five years later, Bridgestone subsequently acquired Firestone Tire & Rubber after over a decade of poor management from the latter. Most importantly, BSA is the largest tire manufacturer in the world, as of 2021.

Additionally, BSA owns Primewell and Fuzion and aside from manufacturing of new tires, Bandag retreading was acquired through a merger in 2007.
